No one should need other people or someone else to understand themselves better. I personally do not need anyone else to understand who I am because I did not have anyone there for me when I needed it. I did not have anyone to rely on as I grew up. I dont rely on anyone now and i certaintly will not rely on anyone when im older. People should not have to rely on others to understand who they are because then that person would would always need someone there in their life, constantly reminding them who they are and what they are here for,.
I am able to do things on my own because I learn things pretty easily. Hassan in the Kite Runner shows a great example of him learning on his own. He learns how to read and write with only a little help. He basically learned how to read and write perfectly after so many years of his life had passed by. He also managed to become a great father and husband without him having his own father around to guide him and give him directions on how to be a good father. Hassan was a perfect example of someone how did not need anyone to rely on.
People who need someone to understand themselves would always need someone there for them which is not so good. A person is supposed to be able to make it on their own. A little help here and there is not bad, but it should not become a daily issue. Amir in the Kite Runner always needed Baba, his father, in his life. Up until Baba passed away, Amir always relied on him. Baba even had to ask for Amir's wifes' hand because Amir was so afraid. Eventually Amir learned to become reliable just on himslef. But overall he always needed and had someone there for him.
Relying on someone should not become a necessity. There are times when someone needs help or someone to rely on, and there is times where someone should not need to rely on anyone and do it thereself. No one needs anyone to sit there and explain to them who they are and what they are here for.

Sohrab
Amir went back for Hassan’s son in these past few chapters. I think Amir went back for Hassan’s son because he wanted to seek forgiveness from what he did to Hassan. Over the years Hassan had forgot about the incident but Amir still wanted to prove himself.
In order to get to Hassan’s son, Amir had to fight Assef, a kid he knew from back when he lived in Kabul. When they fought, Amir did not fight back. I did not understand why he did not fight Assef back. I would have fought back just with the thought of what he did to Hassan and Hassan’s son. Amir also almost died from the terrible beating he received from Assef.
Sohrab was rather quiet towards Amir after he rescued him. Sohrab acted shy and did not really talk much when Amir attempted to talk to him. I think he knew what Amir had done to Hassan back when they were kids. He probably still has not forgiven Amir for what he had done. Sohrab and Hassan had a lot in common. They both were amazing at using a sling shot. They both were pretty good at playing cards as well. Overall they are very much alike and both had much of the same personality.
